My Story

Hello! Welcome to my website and thank you for visiting. Below is my Scentsy story and my reason for joining. At the bottom is my why. My reason for continuing on this adventure.
I had a friend join Scentsy at the end of September in 2010. I had never heard of the company before and it sounded interesting. To help her kick off her new business and help her out, I decided to host a party. We set up an in-home party date for November 5, 2010. Not even halfway through my party I was hooked! I loved so many of the fragrances (my absolute favorite was Paradise Punch. It reminded me of everything in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands when my husband and I vacationed there in 2008), I wanted several warmers right away. My party sales were over $500, the products sold themselves! I decided to join the Scentsy family before my party was even over.
My husband was deployed overseas at the time for a 12 month deployment, the deployment had just begun so we still had 10 months left of it. I wanted a hobby, something to keep me (and my mind) busy, and just something extra to do. And if I earned a little extra money in the meantime then I got to send extra care packages to my husband and his unit.
I ended up making my money back from the start up kit fairly quickly and then some. I was having fun with my new little adventure, having fun promoting it, talking about new warmers and scents coming, meeting new people, helping people find the perfect scents for them and their homes, etc. I felt like I had finally found my knack.
Fast forward to the end of June of 2011, and my family received some devastating news. A very close family friend passed away one morning. I didn't know or understand it at the time, but between that and not having my husband home and worrying about him and the unit, it put me in a depression. I was still doing parties for people, talking to people, but I just felt a little "off". Scentsy's annual convention was approaching and I was already registered to attend, had my hotel room booked, roommates found, but was having second thoughts about attending. Until a close friend asked me to join her for lunch and she urged me to keep my plans and go, telling me it would do me some good and how much I needed this.
Well, she was right. I went to Ft. Worth, TX in early August with my friend and sponsor (the one I hosted my party with back in November) and her husband. I met people on the team for the first time, they are GREAT people! I listened to our owners and CEOs talk for the first time. I was amazed. Heidi Thompson, one of the owners, gave her speech. It's called The Power of One. That speech was exactly how I was feeling, what I was going through, I thought she was talking solely to me. I was able to see her being genuine, how she cares so much about others, and how much she and her husband want to help people. They are very giving, genuine, honest people. Her Power of One speech, and me just being there with thousands of other consultants, and new friends helped me overcome and pull through my depression. It truly helped me. When I came home from Texas, everyone close to me were able to see an immediate turn around in my mood, even those I just talked to regularly on the phone.
Over the years, this has become my why. I reflect back to that June and then August and am always so thankful and blessed I found Scentsy when I did not knowing it would help me in so many more ways than I ever thought or imagined.
If you or anyone you know are going through something, please reach out to me. I want to help. And you (or they) WILL get through it. It can be done.

As for those friends I made while at convention? I'm still good friends with some of them. A few I even talk with regularly and we're always checking in on each other, keeping up on each others' families, etc.
